Lord March has announced dates for both the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival. The Festival of Speed will take place from 1-3 July, and the Revival will follow on 16-18 September 2011.
Whatâs happening at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed?
The theme is 'racing revolutions â" quantum leaps that shaped motor sportâ, and some of the celebrated breakthroughs will includes 30 years since four-wheel drive started to dominate rallying, 25 years since turbocharged engines ruled in F1, and two decades since Mazdaâs rotary-engined 787B took the chequered flag at Le Mans.
Other anniversaries that Goodwood will celebrate include 50 years of the Jaguar E-type and 100 years since the first Indianapolis 500. And after the success of last years extra âMoving Motor Showâ the event will return for a day on 30 June.
Goodwood Festival of Speed founder Lord March said: âI am really looking forward to having so many great cars and drivers here at the Festival of Speed to celebrate our 2011 âRacing Revolutionsâ theme. For me it is always magical to see so many of the worldâs greatest drivers, riders and machines in action.â
